As always, another ALSA event with great success! With good food, people, and a buzzing atmosphere, ALSA’s birthday picnic was a great way to come together and remind us of how much we have achieved as a team. It was refreshing to see so many faces, new and old, coming together to celebrate a milestone for the association. With the ever-growing team, being able to come together to socialise and learn more about everyone’s roles, reinforced a sense of community within us.
The picnic was held in Regent’s Park, with the weather perfectly complementing the cheerful mood of the event. The sight of colourful blankets spread across the grass, groups of people chatting and dancing created a picturesque setting. The organizers did a fantastic job of arranging everything, from the seating to the food, ensuring that everyone felt welcome and comfortable.
With lots of people showing up, the team were not short of surprises. The games segment of the event was particularly memorable. The egg and spoon race and the three-legged race brought out everyone's competitive side, and there were laughs all around. Everyone was eager to join, and it was delightful to see the spirit of friendly competition when sweets were mentioned! Thankfully, no eggs were harmed during this process!
It was heartwarming to see the appreciation for the volunteers at ALSA, as the afternoon carried onto the awards ceremony. This ceremony was a special moment where ALSA volunteers could nominate others for an award, recognizing the hard work they put in.
Volunteers are the backbone of ALSA, and their dedication was celebrated with applause and heartfelt speeches. The recognition of their efforts was not just a formality but a genuine expression of gratitude, reinforcing the strong bonds within the team.
And in true ALSA style, no event is complete without food! The picnic featured an array of delicious options. There were cakes, snacks, and lots of drinks, allowing us another opportunity to socialise and meet new people. Sharing a meal together fostered a sense of camaraderie and connection among the attendees.
With everyone in good spirits, we all came together to sing traditional Albanian songs with the talented Endrit on the qifteli. His performance was a highlight of the afternoon, bringing a touch of cultural heritage to the celebration. The music created an atmosphere of joy and unity, with many joining in the singing and dancing. The sight of people of all ages enjoying the music and each other’s company was truly heartwarming.
The afternoon continued with everyone socialising, dancing, and having a great time. As the evening creeped round, the park was filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and conversation. It was evident that events like these are crucial in strengthening the sense of community within ALSA. They provide a platform for members to connect on a personal level, beyond their professional roles.
Overall, ALSA's birthday picnic was a perfect blend of fun, appreciation, and community spirit. It was a day filled with memorable moments, from the games and awards to the food and music. The success of the event is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in ALSA. Here's to many more successful events and milestones together!
