ALSA at the British Kosovar Chambers of Commerce Gala 2023

By Arisa Reka

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a gala hosted by the British Kosovar Chambers of Commerce, held at the gorgeous London Marriott Hotel. The event was a bustling hub of community members, leaders, political figures, and representatives from various charities and social groups.

The evening kicked off with a heart warming performance by the young talents of the British Albanian Arts Association. Their enchanting voices set a magical tone for the night, filling the air with a sense of warmth and community spirit. We the listened to speeches from several significant community and political leaders including the Ambassador of Kosovo. I then had the privilege to take the stage and talk about ALSA. I shared our origin story and our plans for the future. I also made sure to remind everyone to sign up for membership and join the community!

As the evening unfolded, the music started and we did what Albanians do best…dance! The rest of the night was a lovely combination of dancing, networking and delicious food.

A special moment for me was catching up with Eranda Kapiti, the wife of the Ambassador and a long-standing supporter of ALSA. Her enthusiasm and support for our work are truly inspiring. Another exciting encounter was meeting a representative from AMC Health, who generously offered internships in obstetrics in Kosovo to ALSA members.

As I drove home, I couldn’t help but reflect on ALSA’s journey over the past year. The progress we've made is phenomenal, and with the dedication of our incredible volunteers, I'm excited to see where we will be in 2024. It's nights like these that remind me of the power of community and the impact of coming together for a common cause.
